En 1996, Nada Surf fut projeté sur le devant de la scène avec son premier album High / Low.
Matthew Caws (chant, guitare), Daniel Lorca (basse, chant) et Ira Elliott (batterie) refusèrent de faire un High / Low bis et se disputèrent avec leur maison de disques mais sortirent l’excellent The Proximity Effect.
Et puis ? Le silence radio pendant quatre ans. On pensa un instant que ce groupe avait disparu.
Les Nada Surf ne font rien comme les autres. Après avoir vendu des centaines de milliers d’exemplaires du single Popular, après avoir défendu leur liberté avec leur deuxième album, ils enregistrèrent l’un des meilleurs albums de 2002 avec Let Go. Porté par des singles en béton armé comme Inside of Love, ce troisième disque les transforma en rois de la power pop.
