L’amour selon The Smashing Pumpkins

Le tyran de Chicago vient de mettre en ligne deux singles (Cyr and The Colour of Love) qui pourraient séduire les fanatiques de New Order. De l’aveu même de Corgan, c’est la première fois depuis Machina/The Machines of God qu’un disque des Smashing Pumpkins sera le fruit d’un travail entre lui et les membres historiques de son groupe.

Les vingt dernières années sont assez catastrophiques pour Corgan. Des disques moyens, une carrière solo au point mort.. Et pourtant. En 2000, Billy Corgan régnait sur un empire et était le roi du pétrole. Il vendait des doubles albums par millions, avait le meilleur batteur du monde dans son groupe et tous les adolescents fantasmaient en secret sur D’Arcy.

Et puis… La Machina s’est enrayée et Corgan a perdu de sa superbe. Mais l’Américain est tétu. En 2005, TheFutureEmbrace, son premier disque solo qui faisait une grande place à ses influences (New Order, Depeche Mode), fit un four complet. Et pourtant, il était loin d’être déshonorant.

Avec les deux premiers singles du nouveau disque des Pumpkins, Corgan persiste dans cette voie, foire un des deux singles (Cyr) mais réussit le deuxième.
